B.A.Stop (www.bastop.com) asked me to write a short comment about their hostel, which is fair enough cos it was such a fantastic place to stay.
What i can say is that all the staff (receptionists and cleaners) are the friendliest and most helpful (receceptionists speak fluent english) i’ve encountered in my 3 months of travelling in s america. Also all the rooms lead onto one common area which makes the place really sociable and intimate.

Superb hostel! This is the second time I have been here and enjoy it a lot. Chilled out atmosphere in a great location. A perfect alternative if one isn´t feeling up the Milhouse etc. I will be back!

I stayed in the BA Stop in Buenos Aires
T 4382 7406 www.bastop.com) during my recent visit there and would be happy to recommend it. Its not very big, and its not a party hostel . Its very chilled out and a good place to retreat to. The staff were lovely- really helpful, friendly and approachable and respectful of the guests. They never resented being asked to do anything and never made you feel like you were being a pain in the ass. Even if you were. They were able to discreetly sort out problems with anti-social behaviour in the hostel (while I was there they quietly got a guy to leave because he was intimidating and generally unpleasant and they managed to keep a huge bunch of Brazilians under control as they tried to take over and party loudly in the common areas). There was always soap and toilet roll in the bathrooms and they were always clean- minor things that are actually major factors when you’re travelling! The breakfast breads were always really fresh and they kept them warm to make them even nicer. (There was no fruit or cereals or anything else though- just the usual Argentinean obsession with bread in its many forms.) The place was really well heated (don’t know what its like in summer though!). The TV was massive and the couches really comfy. There was a games table and book exchange too. The kitchen was well stocked. It was really well located in the microcenter and reasonably priced, and honoured its discounts for South American Explorers without grumbling. One of the absolute best things about it though was that it was no smoking- a rule which was occasionally broken but generally adhered to, and which made a huge, huge, huge difference. There’s no laundry service, which is a pity, but apart from that its an all round thumbs up.
Best regards,
Rosie
