Policeman yelled out of his window at me.  "Get that bike off the road."

I yelled back, "Why? I'm biking safely and legally as the law says."

Then he put his lights on and I pulled over into the right turn only lane I was trying not to get into because I was going straight, not turning.

He asks for my license, I hand it to him.  He takes along time looking things up.

While he's doing that I record the date and time and that I was bicycling straight and not turningi into my voice recorder.

He steps out of his car, I ask him if he needs me to get off my bike, he says no.

He asks me to sign the ticket he's written.  There are no specifics, just the one line "Traffic Laws apply to bicycles"

Which I know and follow.  The court date is 5:30pm on Jun 11.  I'm definitely contesting this, as the lack of specifics fails to account for the turn lane I was trying not to get into since I was going straight.

It looks like it's going to come down to his word against mine, and we all know how that usually goes.

I read the back about what happens if you plead guilty.  Since i believe I am innocent of breaking any actual laws, I am contesting this and declaring myself not guilty.

UPDATE:

As he was writing the ticket, a bicylist cut acrooss meridian and right into the wrong side of the road at the turn in front of us.

Officer pointed to trike behind us and said he was following the law.  And if he had passed he would have been exactly where I was when the policeman shouted at me.

The graphic for the sign where the lane ends is just past Cgarden Cove.  So a car, or a bike driving would naturally get over into the lane that goes straight.  I was lready in the lane that was going straight.  I wasn't turning.
