Recently I started a marketing community for the library sector: a place for library marketers and others to exchange ideas, best practices, and discuss all kinds of marketing issues – all related to (national) libraries and The European Library of course. At this point it contains a general forum, marketing resources, calendar and, yes yes, even a chat functionality. The platform also includes discussion groups on different marketing related topics, for instance application programming interfaces, Web2.0, e-Research and Key Performance Indicators / Web-Stats. Already experts from the library community are finding each other here, but of course, the more the merrier. Please note this is a closed community, meaning you can only join and visit if you are invited. Drop me a line if you wish to join… mail addresses: fleur.stigter{at}kb.nl fleurstigter{at}hotmail.com

Where you can find me mid-October: "The Bridging Worlds conference is aimed at information/knowledge/culture professionals and educators. It focuses on how the information, knowledge and cultural institutions are responding to the social and information future while continuing to connect with their diverse communities in appropriate spaces, engaging with them to build the culture, information and knowledge dividend." Will give a presentation on “Virtual Communities in Europe: the cultural mix and how the European Library has responded” more information at http://www.bridgingworlds.sg/day2/

Greetings! Who I am: I work as Marketing Manager for The European Library. In Europeana - formerly called EDL or European digital library - I coordinate the 'Users for Usability' work package. Among my previous employers are the Peace Palace (The Hague, The Netherlands) and a small publisher of databases. I studied history and international law in Leiden, The Netherlands. Curious to how the political intelligentsia reacts to globalization, I have been working on a Phd titled ’national reactions to globalization – a comparison between China and Brazil’.
