I was born in Chicago, IL... shortly after JFK's assassination. I was raised on Sesame Street, Sugar Smacks and Tang.
My parents encouraged (insisted) that I take piano lessons, but eventually let me quit in middle school, when my teacher said I wouldn't amount to anything on the instrument.
I credit my high school band director with encouraging me to start up again, because the jazz band needed someone at the keyboard.
I went to college... for a long time. Since then, I've worn many hats... stay-home parent of twins; grade-school music director; homemaker; VAX/VMS administrator; professor; software engineer; entrepreneur; troublemaker...
My current hat involves doing research into exciting new tools for teaching and learning, and sharing what I learn with others; I also teach a number of courses in the use of computers for music-making.
I work for a liberal arts college in central Indiana; our campus climate is wonderful.
Feel free to ask me anything you'd like about my past, but be prepared to hear the answer.
