This "dashboard" or "listening post" is simply a collection of those search feeds across various services (Google, Twitter, etc.) looking for mentions of certain topics.
The information on this site is very dynamic - it will change from hour to hour or sometimes even more frequently. Consider it a look at what people are saying/doing on the internet *right now* - a river of news and conversation that you can watch flow by, and pluck out bits that are interesting or relevant for you.
