Spring cleaning

spring-cleaningAnalyzes your feeds for unread or old feeds so you can cleanup your page.

This experiment tries to help you filter the noise in your page. How does it do? Simply by telling you which feeds you don’t need anymore. The application will analyze all your feeds and sort them in four categories: feeds you have never read, feeds that are older than 30 days, feeds that are older than 6 months and feeds that are older than one year. Once the analysis done, it lets you decide which feeds you want to remove. All you have to do is check the feeds and press “Archive selected feeds”.

Please note that feeds are not actually deleted from your page. They are simply archived and you can restore them anytime from your Private activities.

Two feeds that I read every day came up as “Not updated during the last year”

very useful when you have a lot of feeds to remove old ones !

I think this is a great idea but it doesn’t seem to work so well. When it reviewed my feeds (rather quickly I thought) it said that some feeds were not updating whereas I am reading updates two or three times a day.

A less useful widget, I think. I manage my feeds manually, but for other people can be more useful.

it s not working fine at alll…it tells me some feeds are never updated whereas i read them every day with new things…

Some feeds do not have dates, or have wrong dates. Because of that, they happen to have the default date (which is 1970/01/01) and are marked as “Not updated during the last year”.

Very useful idea for next year… I finished my spring cleaning before being noticed the widget existed…

I like it !

It gets stuck at 28% and I don’t get any results. Thanks in advance.

Same problem than Lorraine

I love it. Very simple to use, clear and we can restore the feeds if we need them. What can we ask more ? (a little touch of color maybe ? icons ?)

Same problem than Lorraine, but I like it!

should be better. same problem as Lorraine. Updates problem

Yeah Loraine, I have a feed that is updated several times a day, and i was still shown as “Not updated during the last year”

Same problem than Lorraine, but I like it too.

Très utile !

Same problem as Lorraine, but i like the concept.

Super but too bad the Netvibes account used is not displayed anywhere.

Same problem as Lorraine, if you manage to make this work well it is a great idea. Because it is not picking up the feeds not read I do not think I can trust this apple yet.

Very useful. The “Spring cleanup” idea is something I was thinking about as how Netvibes should regularly incitate users to develop their usage of NV. This tool is a good first step in this direction. Since date are not always reliable in feeds, some simple disclaimers about it should be added. The message could also incitate user to report it to feed owner.

gives false informations eg. not update since last year for astro pod = http://apod.nasa.gov/apod.rss

I appreciate the idea but the results of my analysis are completely weird/wrong :(

Nice tool!

I would also like a tool that can show me all rss-feeds that is already representet in my netvibes-portal

Nécessaire et utile pour le nettoyage de printemps !

I don’t read the others comments so i’m sorry in advance if I repeat the idea… would be it possible ordering the feeds in base to their update frequency??

(I’m sorry too if my englsih is not very well)

Thanks!

Good idea, but gets stuck at 89%

Useful. should pop up monthly or quarterly as suggestion. Needs improvement to help manage my content

Great idea in theory but doesn’t execute well. Many feeds I read several times a day showed up as never being read.

C’est pas mal mais pas totalement utile puisqu’on peut le faire soi-meme et de maniere plus precise.
