Tag cloud

tag-cloudDisplays a tag cloud that represents what you read.

A tag cloud is a nice way to visualize something by displaying keywords. The cool thing is that each word size is proportional to its importance. In this experiment, we wanted to see how we could generate a tag cloud from a Netvibes page. The Tag Cloud project analyzes your page and display corresponding keywords. The more a keyword is repeated, the bigger. At a glance, you can see what are the topics you’re interested in.

Knowing what’s in your page is quite interesting per se, but we wanted to do a bit more: if you click on a keyword, you’ll get recommendations for new widgets, straight from our Ecosystem.

Hey I was so glad to see this feature arrive !

…but I’m a little disappointed, the cloud was not as I imagined it. I think it would be great if the tags were taken from news I have been reading. It could be a great summary of what I’ve been reading recently, making a tag bigger when it’s recent etc.

Good job though, a tag cloud would be a very nice feature for netvibes, making it possible to have some kind of semantic networking !

I love it.

I’d like to add the tag cloud to my private/public pages. Is it available as an RSS feed?

Nice idea!

Great idea!

I agree with Thomas.
I find the results are a little bit sad to see and it doesn t look like a cloud but three ligns… But the idea is very interesting.

A really great idea, but as already mentioned, would love for it to look more like an actual cloud, not just lines of words. But truly appreciate your efforts so far.

Would like to see this a little more shapely than three long lines. make it smaller, tighter… also, difficult to tell but is this a cloud of all my netvibes tags? for one tab? hard to tell… seems not quite in synch with what I actually read…. but keep at it… great idea.

Really good, but I would advise to filter out obvious keywords such as “blog”, “news”, “web”, …

Good job!

I agree with the first comment. If the RSS was pulled from the content it would provide a much better cloud. I also thought it would be available in a nice tidy widget. Its a great idea if refined a little.

It’s a good idea ! but with some little arrangements… Words could be ordered with alphabet and tags could be shared. Thank you for that new widget.

great tool! I want it permanently as a widget.

This is great.

This is a good idea. However it lacks the ability to show more than a few links for any tag. Consider adding a ‘more’ link which might link to a display of a longer list of items.

Brice Irvine: right-click and open the link in a new window/tab. You’ll get more suggestions at http://eco.netvibes.com/ :)

Mine is 7 lines but it doesn’t look like it’s getting the tags out of the articles. My cloud seems a bit irrelevant with the all to helpful Blog tag being the largest. :(

So cool but a little bit poor graphically

Merci !

Nicely Done!!

I love this cool tool! and the links towards connected topics are working very well. One question: would this service be free ? I recently used tagcrowd ’s and I was invited to pay 15$ if I wished to use a cloud in a book I recently published.

Béatrice: The service is and will remain free. It’s all based on the free widget catalog: eco.netvibes.com.
