guru will richardson on the future (including clay christensen's disrupting class)
i just sent this email to uxstation - an exciting company i ran across in the bay area:
i teach highschool in colorado - and am craving a redefinition of school - the way kids spend 7 hours a day.
from where i see things - assessments - leading to gpa's and act/sat scores - seem to be driving most public schools.
so - i'm craving a redefinition of assessment.
in redefining assessment - i believe our best resources are businesses that are making a difference. such as yours.
i'm wondering - if you could tweak school up a bit - what would you recommend? if we were to create an assessment that measures resourcefulness, creativity, etc as opposed to specific facts - would you think that would make a difference?
any suggestions/advice at all would be greatly appreciated.
(hoping to start a quiet revolution.)
30 min later i get this: http://www.opensourceteaching.org/
wow. not related. but wow.
